Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) operatives have seized P107.58 million worth of illegal drugs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 15 this year, data released on Monday showed.
The volume included 15,670 grams of shabu and 8,569 grams of marijuana.
Col. Leo Pamittan, police provincial director, said the biggest haul involved 2,010 grams of shabu worth P13.668 million recovered by the Silay Component City Police Station in August.
Another major operation led to the recovery of 200 grams of shabu valued at P1.36 million seized in Victorias City in October.
In July, police seized P1.156 million worth of shabu from a couple during a buy-bust in Kabankalan City.
Since Jan. 1, drug enforcement teams have conducted 678 operations and arrested 843 persons.
Among those arrested were Jonalyn “Mommy Jing” Bugalon, the leader of the notorious Bugalon drug group in southern Negros; and alleged drug runner Juanito “Jerome” Artisano Jr., during a sting operation also in Kabankalan City in August.
The data do not include that of the Bacolod City Police Office, the city being the provincial capital and a highly-urbanized city.* (Nanette Guadalquiver)
