Negros cops complete security preps for Holiday Season

Security preparations designed for the Holiday Season in the province are now complete, according to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).

Police Lt. Judesses Catalogo, NOCPPO spokesperson, said deployment of personnel will begin late next week, with the start of the “Simbang Gabi.”

The deployment is part of the Philippine National Police (PNP) “Oplan: Kapaskuhan.”

Cops will set up police assistance desks at churches in the province.

At the same time, cops will also be deployed in the ports as well as at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

Places of convergence such as shopping malls, and other business establishments will also be guarded in order to prevent any untoward incident.

Catalogo also reminded the public not to hesitate to contact the police if they find any suspicious package left unattended.

He also advised them not to carry items which may attract the attention of thieves and robbers to avoid incidents.

Meanwhile, Catalogo also warned the public over the circulation of fake currency during the holiday season.
He advised the public, especially business owners, to check and make sure that the money they are receiving is not fake.

On the other hand, PNP spokesperson Police Col. Jean Fajardo had already advised the public to transact with legitimate and authorized money changers.* (DGB)
