PSO gears up for more tourneys over the weekend

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government, thru the Provincial Sport Office, is gearing up for more tournaments this coming weekend.

Among the sports activities for December 3-4, (Saturday-Sunday) are the Governor’s Cup 5X5 Basketball Tournament (Eliminations and Semi-Finals), Governor Bong Lacson Inter-LGU Arnis Provincial Championship, and the ABANSE NEGRENSE Road Races.

First on the list of activities is the Governor’s Cup 5X5 Basketball Tournament (A Tribute to Dodong Bascon’s Contributions to Negros Basketball), which will continue its eliminations on December 3 (Saturday) at 1:00 PM. Competing teams include E.B. Magalona, Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod, Silay City, La Carlota City, Cadiz City, and Escalante City.

On Sunday (December 4), the tournament will also hold its Semi-Finals at 1 PM. The top two winning teams from each Bracket (A and B) will vie for the semi-final round.

In addition, the Governor Bong Lacson Inter-LGU Arnis Provincial Championship will officially kick off on December 3 (Saturday) at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central. The competition will start at 9 AM, while the opening program will commence at 10 AM.

Lastly, running enthusiasts from all over the province are expected to participate at the ABANSE NEGRENSE Road Races on December 4, Sunday. Gun start will start at 4 AM with Provincial Sports Office Head Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin. The running distances are 5K, 10K, and 21K.

These upcoming tournaments are part of the ABANSE NEGRENSE Grassroots Sports Development Program, which is spearheaded by Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson. Through this initiative, Gov. Bong Lacson reiterates his objective to inspire the Negrense youth to be student-athletes.* (PSO)
