Kabankalan: Star City of the South

December 2, 2022

On December 6, 2022, at 7 in the evening, a historic Christmas celebration will happen in Kabankalan City which will be symbolized by the Lights On of its featured Christmas celebration.

Under the leadership of Mayor Benjie Miranda, Kabankalan City will be positioned as the Star City of the south every Christmas season.

For the first time in Visayas region, Kabankalan City will showcase the longest STAR TUNNEL. It is 51 meters long, with at least 120,000 small LED light bulbs and close to 2,000 pieces of star silhouettes. Once lighted on December 6, it will surely look like a tunnel which offers a unique experience for the people of the premier city of the province and those expected to come and share this unique Christmas presentation.

Also to be featured are the three Giant and Iconic white stars, measuring 20 feet in height that are situated on top of the Kabankalan City Hall, the Lions Rotonda and at the Kabankalan Public Plaza.

The lamp posts in three major highways in the city, which reflect the Three Wise Men guided by the Star, showcase 5-footer multi-colored and lighted stars as a symbol of contribution from the private sector.

The big century old trees around the Kabankalan Public Plaza will also shine, to be decked with lights and other Christmas decors by the different private companies, institutions and organizations.

Themed as the Jesus is the True Star of all Season, Mayor Miranda aims to position Kabankalan City as another unique destination every yuletide season.

“I am inviting everyone to come and visit Kabankalan, your Star City of the South”, Mayor Miranda said.*
