37 scholars graduate in welding, basic foreign language courses

Twenty-five trainees for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC 1 and 12 trainees for Basic Japanese Language Ethics and Culture (BJLEC) graduated in the Culmination Rites of the POWER Foundation, Inc., a non-government organization certified by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The Scholarship Grants for these batch of graduates were in partnership with Rotary Club of Bacolod, the fourth oldest humanitarian organization in the Philippines of the Rotary International.

Franklin Andre Familiaran, president of the Rotary Club of Bacolod, and Project Chairperson, Rotarian Amelyn Bravo, supported the event and joined in the awarding for the graduation rites along with the other officers and members of the club.

Vice Mayor of Bacolod City, and also an active Rotary Past President, Hon. El Cid Familiaran, rendered his inspirational message. He was introduced by City Councilor and one of the Rotary Club of Bacolod Board Director Israel Silanga.

Engr. Alan Nuega of Phil Apex Agency and Atty. Pauline Nuega of the POWER Foundation Inc, being the founders and forerunners of the organization that provides life skills for mostly Negrense youth, extended their heartfelt gratitude for the service of the club to support the trainees’ program.

Attending the event were Representative of Hitachikento Kogyo.Co Ltd., Japan, Mr. Aoki Masahiro; Owner of James Engineering, Mr. Lorenzo Ferraris; Mr. Chris Potyok & Mrs. Estrelleta Potyok from Calgary Alberta, Canada; Senior TESDA specialist Ms. Jenie Notchite, and Representative of Shokono Anzen Cooperative Japan, Mr. Joenel Emilia.

The graduates shared their appreciation thru their culmination speeches delivered using the learned Japanese language. They presented heartfelt messages as they celebrated this important milestone that will aid them in getting better jobs in the Philippines and abroad, help their families and power their dreams to become realities.* (GMT)
