STAI bowlers secures 3 titles in Negros Tenpin bowling open

MIXED OPEN WINNERS. Heber Alqueza of SUGBU-Cebu (Champion) was flanked by James Gasapo of STAI Youth (1st Runner-up) and GJ Buyco of ACBI-SUGBU (2nd Runner-up).*

The Sugarbowl Tenpin Bowling Association, Inc. (STAI) dominated the 22nd Negros Tenpin Bowling Open Tournament by securing three titles out of four at Lopue’s East Bowling Center, The Upper East, Villamonte in Bacolod City on November 21.

It was a weeklong fun-filled tournament which showcased the talents of our local tenpin bowlers against a friendly competion across the country.

Sugbuanon Bowlers United’s (SUGBU) Heber Alqueza of Cebu City captured the champion trophy in the Mixed Open division. Completing the top 8: 1st runner-up, James Gasapo (STAI Youth); 2nd runner-up, GJ Buyco (ACBI-SUGBU); 4th place, Basti Singui (SLETBA); 5th place, Kyle Uy (STAI Youth); 6th place, Marc Custodio (SLETBA); 7th place, Alfred Valencia (STAI); 8th place, Eric Buyco (STAI).

On the other hand, the next three titles were won by STAI bowlers – youth tenpinner Syd Vista (Mixed Classified), Dr. Tony Hinolan (Mixed Seniors), and J.Gasapo (Mixed Youth).

This tenpin bowling tourney was honored by the participation of Philippine Bowling Federation President, Atty. Ed Santos together with Lorna Felarca as the Treasurer. Both of them played in the sports event and presented the awards to the winners.

Sports philanthropist & educator Mr. Nilo Penado and bowling stalwart M.Custodio were also present during the bowling event. Custodio was the Bronze winner of the July 2022 Sweden Doubles competition of the International Bowling Federation.

In a press release, STAI expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Billy Lopue & OJ Lopue for accommodating the tournament in its newly installed bowling center and the nameless volunteers for making this event a resounding success.* (JGT)

MIXED YOUTH WINNERS. James Gasapo of STAI (Champion) was flanked by Denzel Reyes of CLTBA (1st Runner-up) and Lance Tan (2nd Runner-up).*
