2 soldiers killed in Sipalay ambush

Two soldiers from the Philippine Army were killed after they were ambushed by a group of armed individuals at Sitio Camboguiot in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City this morning.

Police identified the fatalities as Sgt. Regie Glendro, and Staff Sgt. Ken Camilan, intelligence operatives from the Philippine Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion based in the neighboring town of Candoni also in Negros Occidental.

According to an initial investigation by the Sipalay Police Station, the two soldiers were conducting a reconnaissance operation in the area at the time.

Upon reaching an uphill area and a blind curve, they were ambushed by a group of armed men.
Both soldiers were declared dead on the spot.

Sipalay policemen are still investigating, while the Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (303IBde) had yet to release a statement.* (DGB)
