Supreme ABF remains undefeated in UNBL

Supreme ABF/ SilverGraces remain as the only undefeated team with four victories after CSA-B Let’s Go Strived fell to RAAK Transport last Saturday in the 1st United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) Open Tournament at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gymnasium.

UNO-R kept the lead of Supreme ABF below double digit in the firth three quarters but SilverGraces pulled away in the payoff quarter with 7 players contributing led by Bill Geolingo with 6 and Windel Galez 5 points.

Geolingo paced Supreme ABF with 15 points, Clement John Madin added 12, Ritcer Santillan drilled 11, JP Longa shot 8, Kim Dimaranan and Galez made 7 points apiece and Marvin Sanico with 6 points.

Red House was led by Jemwel Maligo 11 points backstopped by Sean Sesaldo with 10, Edison Jumayao nailed 8, Thomas Carcillar delivered 7 and Lorenz Toral had 6 points.

Meanwhile, RA-AK Transport trounced CSA-B Let’s Go Strive 92-85 to tie its victim at 3-1 in the standings.

CSA-B was in the driver’s seat 67-63 late in the 3rd quarter, but an 8-0 closing quarter run courtesy of 2 triples by Jhan Nermal pushed RA-AK to a 71-67 lead.

With momentum on RA-AK Transport side, they slowly pulled away engineered by Mark Yee and Dave Patrick Yulo delivering 9 and 6 points respectively to establish a 90-79 lead with 2 minutes left.

Perfect Skin Player of the Game Yee spearheaded RA-AK offense with 23 points, Yulo dropped 12, Nermal hit 10 Raymund Ilagan delivered 8, Sean Sajo and Edsel Manday made 7 points apiece and Jerick Adorio shot 6 points.

Arnaud Noah spearheaded CSA-B with 31 pts. Jemar Cepriano added 18 pts. , Harvey Eslawa contributed 16 markers and Mico Exaltado with 8 pts.

Tea Tas / Puff Boss had some anxious moment before registering its first victory against USLS Stingers 89-86.

The Stingers trailed 76-63 with 6:51 left as Tea Tas Arben Dionson fired 8 pts. early in the 4th quarter but the Stingers drew closer as they embarked on a 10-2 run behind Riggy Alinsoring back-to- back triple connection and MJ Dela Cruz 2 free throw.

A Cedrick Debide triple and Jayboy Solis twinner gave some breathing room for Puff Boss for an 83-77 advantage, but Alinsoring responded anew with his 4th and 5th triple in the quarter to tie the score at 83 all with 1:15 remaining.

But Puff Boss hold off the Stingers behind the last 6 points of Debide as he scored on a layup and went 4-4 from the free throw line to seal its first win.

Mark Maloles led Puff Boss with 30 points, with 22 points delivered in the 1st half; Dionson added 18, Debide with 16 points; the trio of Solis, Junior Essaka and Louie Badilles delivered 6 markers each.

Alinsoring knocked down 19 points, Andrew Velasco added 14, Terence Buenafe and Catalan delivered 12 points each.

Acster Marketing overwhelmed LCC-B Team Davies Paint 92-72, to create a logjam in 2nd place with 2 other teams at 3-1.

The outcome of the game was determined in the first half as Acster Marketing 54-32 lead at the break courtesy of Aldwin Alday 16 points, Richard Albo with 11 points and Mac Racho 9 points.

LCC-B outscored Acster in the 2nd half but it hardly made a dent in the lead of Acster.

Alday finished with 21 points, Albo dropped 21 with 15 points coming from the trifecta area; Leo Najorda shot 15, Racho made 11, Jan Jan Pastias scored 10 and France Tono with 7 points.

Kent Macalalag led Team Davies Paint with 11 points, Saul Jimenez added 10 points, Joseph Palaganas dropped 9, Sweet Nemenzo and Peewee Demonteverde contributed 8 points apiece, and Lance Benitez had 6 points.* (Cyrus M. Garde)
