CSB-B pulls away vs Team Davies in UNBL
RA-AK, Supreme ABF wins respective opponents
CSA-B pulled away in the payoff quarter to frustrate Team Davies Paint – LCC-B, 96-81, in the 1st United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) Open Tournament last Saturday at Po Hang Gymnasium in Tay Tung High School in Bacolod City.
Perfect Skin Player of the game, Arnaud Noah delivered 11 of his game high 21 points in the 4th quarter to overturn a 69-65 3rd quarter deficit for its 2nd straight win.
Noah was backstopped by Harvey Eslawa and Jemar Cepriano with 18 points each; Allen Delagente drilled 10 and Rebe Baliguas had 6 points.
Team Davies was spearheaded by Kenjay Sarco and Kent Macalalag with 12 points each; Sweet Nemenzo dropped 9, Sherlou Faltiquera scored 7, Lance Benitez and Joshua Jumuad shot 6 points apiece.
In the 2nd game RA-AK Transport relied on its balance offense to outplay USLS Stingers 86-71 Edsel Manday scored 8 points while Carl Magbanua and Patrick Dave Yulo combined for 9 points to set the tone in the opening quarter with a 26-13 advantage.
They maintained their double digit lead throughout the game versus the upstart USLS Stingers for their 2nd win in as many start.
Manday finished with 11 points, all in the 1st half; Magbanua added 10 and May Parohinog and Bill Prado shot 8 points apiece and the quartet of Yulo, Saldy Macabato, Mon Lustria, Emmanuel Ojoula contributed 7 markers each and Japet Claridad with 6.
Keith Ortillano led the Stingers with 19 points; Lenz Catalan and Bonn Daja netted 9 points apiece, Andrew Velasco and Ivan Macabani had 7 points each while Terence Buenafe and JJ Laborte with 5 markers apiece.
Medo Tosh Sesay powered Acster Marketing with 34 points highlighted with 3 dunks against Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu UNO-R, 105-76.
Chibuze Ikeh added 14 points; Leo Najorda and France Tono shot 10 apiece; Edrian Lao and Jonathan Gantalao drilled 9 points each and Christian Macononcido shot 7.
Arkel Santero paced UNO-R with 13 points, Sean Sesaldo added 8, Fritz Valencia made 8, Ranier Estrada hit 7 and Thomas Carcillar with 6 points.
In the nightcap Supreme ABF/SilverGraces also scored its 2nd straight win against Tea Tas/Puff Boss, 84-73.
Supreme ABF overturned a 1st quarter deficit of 25-21 to a 47-40 halftime lead as Frederick Elombi and Randy Colonia delivered 16 and 11 points respectively. Cedrick Debide, Junior Essaka and Kingpee De La Cruz combined for 29 points for Puff Boss.
Silver Graces extended the lead to 65-52 as Jaycee Adjei shot 6 points before Debide led a last ditch rally in the 4th quarter with 9 of the last 12 points for Tea Tas to cut the lead to 4 points. But Supreme ABF held off the comeback as Ramer Javillo nailed 4 of 4 from the free throw area and Adjei scored on an under goal stab for his 7 points in the quarter.
Elombi had a team high 18 points; Colonia and Adjei added 13 points apiece, Charry Cadase and Kim Dimaranan contributed 7 points each and Ramer Javillo with 6 markers.
Debide finished with 20 points; Justine Baldonado nailed 12, De La Cruz and Glen Dormido hit 11 and Essaka dropped 8 points.*
