Pork supply, prices remain stable

November 7, 2022

Supply and prices of pork in the province remain stable, the Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) confirmed.

Dr. Placeda Lemana, acting PVO head, said today there is no change in the prices of pork as supplies remain stable.

Lemana said pork in Iloilo province, which is currently battling an outbreak of the African Swine Fever, is even become cheaper.

The price of pork being sold in some parts of Bacolod is averaging between P250 to P260 per kilo.

“Sa Iloilo nagbarato gid ang ila to nga baboy, sa aton diri ya na maintain ta man ang [presyo] sang baboy,” Lemana said.

When asked if Negros Occidental has enough supply of hogs for the Christmas Season, Lemana said production of hogs remains high.

She pointed out that as demand for lechon is expected to increase in December, the price is also expected to increase.

Lemana said the province is capable enough to meet next month’s demand.* (DGB)
