1st UNBL opens this Sunday at Po Hang Gym

The 1st United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) Open Commercial League kicks off Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gymnasium in Bacolod.

The 8 teams in this inaugural tourney are Acster Marketing, Ra-ak Transport, Puff Boss, Silvergraces, Redhouse Taiwan Shabu2x/Uno-R, USLS, Team Davies Paints/LCC-B, Lets Go Strived/CSA-B.

According to President Jun Ballesteros, the UNBL wants to give local college players the opportunity to play alongside commercial/professional league players to enhance their skills and talents, adding that this tournament will provide entertainment for basketball lovers in Bacolod and Negros.

The tournament features MPBL players Mark Yee, Mr. MPBL quadruple double and Youtube sensation Kyt Jimenez, Kraniel Villoria, Jhan Nermal, Jan Jan Pastias, Leo Najorda, etc. and foreign imports that will definitely spice up the competition.

Opening ceremonies and parade of teams will be at 1:30 p.m., followed by a quadruple-header starting at 2 p.m. featuring Raak Transport vs. Puff Boss, followed by UNO-R against CSA-B, LCC-B tangles with USLS, and in the nightcap Acster collides with Silvergraces.

Aside from the trophies, the champion team will take home P50,000, while the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will bring home P30,000 and P20,000, respectively.

Games are played every Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gymnasium. All games are free admission.* (Cyrus M. Garde)
