More power thru Rotary Club of Bacolod
The Rotary Club of Bacolod, the longest-serving club for 85 years of Rotary International in Bacolod and Negros Occidental, has started another flagship project partnership with TESDA-accredited POWER Foundation Inc. The agreement-signing, to provide scholarship grants for specific courses of the Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA), was conducted last October 27,2022 during the Rotary International District 3850 Governor’s Visit Program held at O’Hotel, Bacolod City.
Franklin Andre Familiaran, incumbent President of Rotary Club of Bacolod, and Atty. Pauline Nuega,
Institutional Head of POWER Foundation, Inc. affixed their signatures in the agreement to have a continuous partnership for Rotary Year 2022-2023. The project partnership would involve the club to be one of the avenues for the TESDA grants for the applications of young people, at least 22 years old, who are out-of-school and unemployed. The applicants will be screened and reviewed to be eligible to take the courses in Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC 1, Cookery NC 2 and Organic Agriculture Production NC 2.
The program has already commenced with 25 young people enrolled in welding courses. Project Chairman Director Israel Salanga, also a Bacolod City Councilor, has proudly motivated the young people who were accepted into the program and reminded them to do their best to pass the course.
Witnessing the partnership agreement were Past Club Vice President Rotarian Amelyn Bravo and Engr. Alan Nuega, a Past Asst. Governor and the founder of POWER Foundation Inc. Gracing the event were the Rotary District3850 Governor John Michael “Kano” Ng, Past District Governors Edgar Sy and Louie Gonzaga, Vice Mayor of Bacolod City El Cid Familiaran and the officers and members of Rotary Club of Bacolod.
