San Carlos, Bago, CHFC sweep Gov.’s Cup football tourney qualifiers
The city of San Carlos was a fierce rival to beat in the game of football. The team left its opponents with zero goals at the Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship (North Negros Qualifying) on Oct. 15, Saturday.
Surrounded by football fields, San Carlos City was indeed a haven for many football enthusiasts. During the tournament, the team emerged victorious in the 12-under (born 2010) and the 17-under (born 2005) categories.
In the 12-under (9-a-side with offside format), the team scored eight (8) goals against Victorias City, while it scored two (2) goals against Sagay City in the 17-under (11-a-side with offside) category. Club de Los Hermanos de Futbol FC (CHFC) also won in two categories with a score of 2-0 and 6-0 against Escalante City in the 12-under and 17-under brackets, respectively.
In the South and Central Negros Qualifying, Bago City defeated Tumandok FC with a score of 5-0 in the 12-under category. The team also crushed the municipality of Ilog with a score of 3-0 in the 17-under age bracket.
Cadiz City and Sagay City in the North Negros Districts also scored five (5) and six (6) goals against their respective opponets. Dolphins FC, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Trinity Christian School FC, and University of St. La Salle FC in the South and Central Negros Districts were also victorious in their matches.
Meanwhile, the Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship will continue its qualifying round next weekend, Oct. 22-23 (Saturday and Sunday). This tournament is organized by the Provincial Sports Office, under the leadership of Mr. Anthony Carlo Agustin.
The tournament is in line with the grassroots sports development initiative spearheaded by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson in partnership with the ABANSE NEGRENSE Sports Programs.* (PSO)
