Gov.’s Cup inter-district 3X3 b-ball tourney kicks off in San Carlos

It’s a fun-filled weekend in the city of San Carlos as the Governor’s Cup Inter-District 3X3 Basketball Tournament officially kicked off at the covered court in Brgy. 2 on Saturday, Oct. 15. All the LGUs in the First District participated in the District 1 Eliminations.

In the 16-under category, the cities of Escalante and San Carlos were the top two teams ranking first and second, respectively. Escalante City was indeed a strong opponent to beat as it ranked in second place in the 19-under category, while the municipality of Calatrava landed in the first place.

Among the participating LGUs in the District 1 Eliminations were Don Salvador Benedicto, Calatrava, Toboso, Escalante City, and San Carlos City.

Apart from the District I Eliminations, the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) also held the District 2 Eliminations in the municipality of Manapla on the same day. The participating teams were Sagay City, Cadiz City, and Manapla.

Manapla had what sports fans call the “home-court advantage” as they swept the top ranks in both the 16-under and 19-under categories. Cadiz City was also a strong team, landing in second place in both age categories.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Cup Inter-District 3X3 Basketball Tournament will continue its District 3 and 4 playoffs in Silay City and Pulupandan on Oct. 22, respectively. The tournament is among the sports activities that the PSO organized in the last quarter of 2022.
