PSO announces upcoming tourneys, events

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government and the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) have officially and safely resumed their sporting activities and tournaments. In line with this, they are pleased to announce the upcoming sports events that will take place over the weekend.

First on the list is the District Festival 3X3 Basketball Tournament (Districts I and II Eliminations). The District I Elimination will be on Oct. 15, Saturday at 9 am in the City of San Carlos. Participating teams include the municipalities of Don Salvador Benedicto, Calatrava, and Toboso, and the cities of Escalante and San Carlos.

For the District II Elimination, the municipality of Manapla is the host venue, and the game will start at 1 pm on Saturday. The participating LGUs are Manapla, Cadiz City, and Sagay City. The categories are 19-under and 16-under boys.

Moreover, ABANSE NEGRENSE’s Boxing at the Park continues with its Semi-Finals and Final bouts. The boxing matches will be held at the Silay City Public Plaza on Oct. 15 (Semi-Finals) and Oct. 16 (Finals) at 1 pm.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship will proceed with its North, South, and Central Negros Qualifying matches. The North Negros games will be held in San Carlos City at 8 am on Oct. 15. The South and Central Negros matches, on the other hand, are scheduled in the municipality of Pontevedra at 8 am on Oct. 16, Sunday.

The Governor’s Cup Football games have two categories. The 17-under boys (born 2005) with the 11-a-side with an offside format, and the 12-under boys (born 2010) with the 9-a-side with an offside rule.
