P6.5-M Cadiz City pavilion inaugurated at Panaad Park

The newly-constructed pavilion of the Cadiz City government at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City was inaugurated this morning.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. led other officials during the blessing and inauguration of the structure built at a cost of P6. 5 million.

“This is a newly built pavilion. We demolished the old one. Its cost excludes the electrical connections because it needs to have its own power lines to equip it with air-conditioned units, ” Mayor Escalante told newsmen.

The pavilion is not only utilized during the Panaad and other festivals. It is also for Cadiz atheletes joining sports activities and trainings. Some of my meetings are also held here, added Escalante.

Mayor Escalante expressed optimism that having a weekend market, or every Saturday and Sunday, would be viable at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

He said that the structures and pavilions of various local government units are permanent at the park so the displays and some products would matter, as he expressed support to plans opening the park on acregular basis.

Cadiz Income

For the first two days of the Panaad sa MassKara, Escalante revealed that the Cadiz pavilion sales on its displays and products already reached more than P100,000, with dried fish still the top grosser.

The Cadiz mayor at the same time revealed his plans of constructing a Common Use Facility for Agricultural and Non-Agricultural products in the city.

The city, he said has acquired a 11-hectare property and that he is eyeing the area for such facility that will also be the center for its dried fish industry where packaging, vacuum sealing and other sanitary procedures for dried fish making will be located.

He said the Common Use Facility will soon rise beside the City Sports Stadium worth P20 million which is under construction. The facility will encourage our residents who are into the dried fish industry to be at par of what is required on food products,” Escalante also added.* (CBCR)
