Bacolod PNP’s Sept. drugs haul: net P8.5M
Anti-drug operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) have seized P8.532 million worth of illegal drugs in the month of September, police data showed.
The confiscated items included around 1,249 grams of shabu worth P8.497 million and 227.5 grams of marijuana amounting to P34,128.
Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, director of BCPO, said amid the ongoing MassKara Festival, they have heightened police operations, including the pursuit of drug peddlers, to ensure a peaceful celebration.
“Our campaign against illegal drugs continue. We don’t stop. The drug station enforcement teams are relentless in their operations,” he said in an interview.
From Sept. 1 to 30, drug enforcement teams conducted 45 operations that led to the arrest of 48 drug personalities, including 36 drug pushers, 11 drug users, and one minor.
Among them are six high-value individuals, 38 street-level individuals, and four newly-identified drug personalities.
The operations resulted in the filing of 59 cases in court against the suspects for violation of various sections of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Last month’s biggest haul was P4.59 million worth of shabu seized from two suspects during a buy-bust in Barangay Bata on Sept. 24.
In August, the BCPO recovered a total of 1,045.8 grams of shabu worth P7.11 million.* (Nanette Guadalquiver)
