August 30, 2022

Police arrested another drug personality with P7.561 million worth of suspected shabu in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Sunday night, bringing to P21 million the total volume of drugs recovered in the city during the day.

The suspect was identified as Mark Villaran, 36, a resident of Antonio Luna Street, Barangay 1.
Villaran’s arrest came after two suspects –siblings Angie Dumdumaya, 30, and Angielyn Dumdumaya, 25, who possessed P13.668 million of the same prohibited substance, were also apprehended in the city earlier on Sunday.

Col. Leo Pamittan, acting director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, lauded the successful operations that led to the recovery of more than P21 million worth of shabu in only one day.

“The arrested persons are considered high value individuals and are now in the custody of Silay City Police Station,” he said.

Initial police report said at around 9:45 p.m., Villaran sold four plastic sachets of the prohibited substance for P48,000 to a poseur-buyer during a meet-up at the entrance of Mallery 2 Subdivision in Barangay Rizal.

Operatives also found in the suspect’s possession 10 knot-tied and 16 more heat-sealed plastic sachets of shabu, weighing 1,112 grams with an estimated value of P7.561 million.

They also recovered a digital weighing scale, ice candy wrappers, and P1,280 cash along with Villaran’s motorcycle.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the three suspects, who are now in the custody of Silay City Police Station.

The operation in Barangay Lantad that resulted in the arrest of two other drug personalities was jointly conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit-Western Visayas and the Silay City Police Station.* (Nanette Guadalquiver)
