Hotel rooms running out for Bacolod MassKara Festival 2022

August 21, 2022

Hotel rooms and other accomodation facilities outside of Bacolod are being eyed for visitors coming to the city for the MassKara Festival in October.

This was disclosed by City Mayor Albee Benitez, saying that rooms of local hotels and pension houses in Bacolod for the world-famous festival of the city that will kick off on October 1 are running out.

Benitez, speaking in today’s Mayor Albee VIP and Sponsors’ Gala Masskara Fundraiser event at the Stonehill Suites, said the city government is now looking for “Air Bed and Breakfast” (AirBnB) facilities as well as “private groups and individuals who are willing to offer some units for rent.”

He added that he is also “looking out into the neighboring Talisay City, Bago City and other nearby areas who can accommodate incoming visitors.”

The mayor added that he is also asking Frank Carbon and his fellow fast craft operators “if they can have additional ferry trips from Bacolod to Iloilo, vice versa.”

This year’s Masskara Festival will kick off on October 1 to 23. It will be divided into three parts.

The 1st week will have sporting events dubbed as the Masskara Olympics, the 2nd week will be for trade fairs, while the 3rd week will have cultural events and entertainment.

“This way visitors can have a choice what events and activities they will join,” organizers meanwhile said.

During the event the official music entitled “Balik Yuhum – It’s Time to Smile Again” was rendered by popular performer Darren Espanto.

Benitez also officially named the Bacolod Yuhom Foundation Inc. as the organizer of this year’s MassKara Festival headed by Atty. Pinky Mirano-Ocampo, a leading events organizer in the city.

He also confirmed that he has officially invited President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family to join the Masskara Festival.* (EYA)
