BFP Brings Fire Square to SM City Bacolod

August 5, 2022

Celebrating its 31st year this August 2022, the Bureau of Fire Protection continues to uphold its commitment of quality public service, most especially in mitigating disasters, preventing and suppressing destructive fires, ensuring the safety of communities and pursuing education and information advocacies.

As part of the bureau’s celebration in Bacolod City, the BFP will hold a Fire Square, wherein mallgoers, most especially kids, can participate in activities that would make them experience being a firefighter.

Dubbed BFP Fire Square, the event will run from today, August 5 to 6, 2022 at the north wing atrium of SM City Bacolod. Kids and their parents can expect to be educated more about fire safety through lectures and simulation activities. The activities that the firefighting team will prepare will be similar to what they also do in response to calls.

The setting is expected to be a fun and interactive experience for kids and kids-at-heart, with exposure to firefighting techniques, simulation of burning buildings, working with ropes and equipment, and learning about basic first aid and practicing safety at all times. According to the BFP, this is a good training for children on disaster response.

BFP VI regional director CSupt. Jerry Candido, together with the BFP offices and stations of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City enjoin the public to come, participate and enjoy the two-day event at SM City Bacolod, while getting to know the friendly firefighters who have dedicated themselves to keeping the communities they serve safe.* (PPR)
