Southern Negros schools damaged by typhoon may opt for blended learning mode
Schools in the southern part Negros Occidental may still observe blended learning this school year.
Ian Arnold Arnaez, Department of Education-Division of Negros Occidental spokesperson, said schools in the southern part of the province damaged by Typhoon Odette may still continue to opt for blended learning.
However, he said they are still waiting for an official order from their national office.
Arnaez said the provincial government has recently asked for data from the DepEd Provincial office of the schools heavily hit by calamities.
The province may release the budget for repair from the Special Education Fund or maybe from other sources to repair damaged equipment and facilities.
Arnaez added thay it is not specified in the DepEd Memorandum No. 34, covering school year 2022 to 2023, if the implementation of the School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) is still mandated as schools are still required to conduct an assessment of their capacity to conduct face-to-face classes.
A total of 580 schools in Negros Occidental are expected to open on August 22.
DepEd announced that full face-to-face classes will start on November 2 this year.
Blended learnings, meanwhile will still be observed from August to October.* (EYA)
