Successful ‘shabu harvest’ in Bacolod continues
The successful ‘harvest of shabu” seems endless in Bacolod.
Two more residents of the city yielded a total of about P2.14 million worth of suspected shabu in two separate police buy-bust operations on Thursday, July 28.
One suspect was identified as Ramon Descutido Vertudes Jr., 31, according to a report from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas (SOU-6).
Vertudes was arrested after selling a certain amount of the prohibited substance to an undercover policeman at his residence at past 12 a.m.
Operatives also found in his possession about 250 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P1.394 million.
The suspect, detained at the Police Station 8 of Bacolod City Police Office, is to be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The recovery of illegal drugs from Vertudes was one of the two major operations in the city on Thursday.
A few hours later, the drug enforcement team of Police Station 8 also arrested John Mark Melana, 21, during a buy-bust in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Melana sold a big plastic sachet of shabu worth P10,000 to a police poseur-buyer and yielded 110 grams of the same prohibited substance worth P748,000.* (Nanette Guadalquiver)
