6 of 10 top tourist sites in WV in 2021 are in NegOcc

Six of 10 top tourist destinations in 2021 in Western Visayas are in Negros Occidental.

This is based on a data presented to the provincial government during the 3rd Quarter Negros Occidental Tourism Officer’s Meeting held July 18, 2022 at the Provincial Capitol Building in Bacolod City.

According to the data from 2021 presented by Tim Ticar, Senior Tourism Officer for the Department of Tourism (DOT) in

Region 6, Sipaway Island located in San Carlos City is the top destination in the region with 75,685 visitors.

Second on the list is the Bantug Lake Ranch Place located in Barangay Alangilan in Bacolod with 55,567 visitors.

The Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, meanwhile, was at 4th place with 41,362 visitors.

Campuestohan was followed by the Otirasor Beach Resort in Himamaylan City with 38,247 visitors; The Ruins in Talisay City with 27,184 visitors; and the Lakawon Island Resort in Cadiz City with 24,947 visitors.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the prospects for recovery in travel and tourism are improving.

He owed the recovery in the tourism sector to the combination of mass vaccinations against COVID-19 and the easing of travel restrictions nationwide.

Lacson is hopeful for a more sustained increase and growth in the province’s tourism sector.* (DGB)
