CENECO on the KSPC power supply deal
The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) said it is willing to settle its financial obligation with Kepco Salcon Power Corp. (KSPC) but based only on the P3.60 per kilowatt hour (kWh) as Time of Use (TOU) that the electric coop was charging to its consumers and which was approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
It said that it cannot pay the P5.44 per kWh as stated in the extended contract with KPSC for the 20-megawatt (MW) base load supply because of an ERC directive.
“We don’t have any debt with any power supplier since the coop (Ceneco) is handling it well…,” said Ceneco Acting General Manager Ervin Stan Leo Ticar, adding that Ceneco’s hands are tied by a “jurisprudence”, preventing it from implementing what power supplier KEPCO Salcon Power Corp. has been demanding from it.
Anticipating possible KSPC action like cutting off its supply to Ceneco, Ticar said Ceneco took steps to ensure there will be no power supply problem.
Ticar explained further in the video here during an interview.* (Arman P. Toga video)
