Banago drug bust yields P3.4M worth of shabu; Bacolod PNP lauded

April 28, 2022

Some P3.4 million worth of shabu were seized from three suspected drug sellers during early this morning’s (April 28) buy-bust operation of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) at Purok Katilingban in Barangay Banago, in the city.

Arrested were identified as 25-year-old Sandy Romero; 47-year-old Sunny Boy Guino-ohan; and 56-year-old Rudy Talabon, all residents of the barangay.

Police Lt. Jovem Mogato, head of the BCPO’s CDEU, said Romero is using his food delivery work as a front for his illegal drug transactions.

Mogato said based on their monitoring, Romero and his group allegedly take their supply of illegal drugs from outside Western Visayas.

Romero would then use his front as a food delivery rider in order to avoid suspicion when delivering illegal drugs to his buyers.

Mogato said Romero is capable of selling at least two kilos of shabu a month, and usually gets his supply in bulk.

Policemen were able to confiscate 12 sachets and five knot-tied plastic bags containing suspected shabu with a combined weight of at least 500 grams and valued at P3.4 million.

Police also recovered the P5,000 buy-bust money from the suspects.

All three are now facing charges related to sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The three are presently detained at Bacolod Police Station 3.* (DGB)
