Himamaylan gov’t taking care of brgy. 1 fire victims

A fire that occured early this morning razed eight houses at Purok Pangpang, Barangay 1, Himamaylan City.

City government officials headed by Mayor Raymund Tongson, as well as barangay leaders headed by Brgy. 1 Captain Patrick Vallejera, are presently taking care of the more than eight families who are victims of the fire.

Rev. Louie P. Galbines, Bishop of the Diocese of Kabankalan is also with Mayor Tongson in talking to the victims.

Food and initial assistance are being distributed at the barangay food terminal structure where victims were temporarily evacuated.

Mayor Tongson told NDB the assistance are also being extended to other residents near the burned houses.

The Himamaylan Fire Station under Insp. Ronnie Malojan reported that it received a “walk-in report” by 4 a.m. today regarding the fire at Prk. Pangpang it declared under a 2nd Alarm Status.

It said that firemen from the Kabankalan and the Binalbagan fire stations also helped put out the fire, while Himamaylan policemen assisted in maintaining order.

Initial investigation showed that the likely origin was an electrical fan, although further investigations are still ongoing.

Brgy. Captain Vallejera told newsmen the fire fighting trainings of some residents initiated by the barangay and the quick response of the fire stations prevented the fire from further spreading.* (Arman Toga photos)
