Each year’s celebration of World Health Day reminds us to continue taking care of ourselves and our families’ health.

As the popular phrase would say, “health is wealth” Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF) maintains its efforts in supporting its clients and their families by providing medical services to them, in addition to its flagship mandate of giving the clients access to capital.

“The organization has long been committed to going beyond simply providing access to capital to our hard-working and determined poorest communities. Thinking of how we can further help our clients and their families, our non-financial services was established to ease their other financial burdens like the expenses they spend with their medical needs and that of their families, the education of their children, and business training to capacitate them further as we work together for better tomorrows,” Gilbert Maramba, NWTF Assistant Director for Product Development and Operations said.

“We have placed utmost emphasis and priority on our client’s health because we believe that their well-being is crucial to reaching their aspirations in life. Only when they are healthy can they have a better chance of improving their lives,” he added.

Since 2005, NWTF has prided itself on delivering relevant and quality medical services to Dungganon clients and their families in the areas where it operates in the Philippines. The organization has seen the necessity to support the Dungganon communities, particularly with respect to their healthcare needs.

“We saw how our clients, mostly those in far-flung areas with limited-to-no access to healthcare, need our support. This gap that we saw led to the creation of the Client Wellness Unit that caters to the medical needs of our clients and their families,” Client Wellness Unit Head Marie Antonniette Dreyfus said.

To date, NWTF continues to provide necessary, relevant, and quality health and wellness services through its many initiatives.

“We started with a few medical missions, providing free medicine and check-ups for our clients and their families. And as the needs of our clients change, we have expanded and offered more services to them, such as dental extractions, eye check-ups, x-rays, sugar screening, pap smear, blood-letting, and circumcision for their children. We also have initiatives and activities on wellness and nutrition like backyard farming, health fora, and funrobics, among others,” Dreyfus added.

NWTF has partnered with medical professionals, private laboratories, pharmacies, and clinics all over the Philippines to deliver health and wellness services to its clients. Prior to the pandemic, the organization has conducted more than 800 medical missions in a year in areas where it operates, serving over 300,000 people.

And with the challenges of the pandemic, NWTF continued to adjust and shifted some of its activities online during the height of Covid-19 cases. Online health and wellness-related webinars, telemedicine, or teleconsultation were launched to still cater to the pressing healthcare needs of their clients in these difficult times.

Months into the pandemics, the organization resumed its medical missions and activities despite the dangers of Covid-19. Following all health and safety protocols, NWTF’s Client and Wellness Team and its partner doctors went to different cities across the Philippines to conduct medical missions.

In 2021 alone, more than 170,000 individuals have been served by the telemedicine initiative of NWTF. And close to 100,000 more were accommodated through the various medical missions conducted all over the country.

“We have always put our client’s wellbeing a priority in everything we do at NWTF, hence, our clients and their families can rest assured that we will be there for them every step of the way,” said Maramba, as NWTF commits to continue offering healthcare services for NWTF clients and their families.

As of March 2022, more than 150,000 people have already received medical services from the NWTF family in form of medical missions, telemedicine, health webinars, and many more.
As NWTF continues to provide health and wellness services to its clients and their families, it recognizes the contribution of medical institutions and frontliners worldwide, especially with the ongoing battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.
