VMC Distillery Plant Waste water lagoon turned into fish pond

This is just a part of what used to be Victorias Milling Company, Inc. Distillery Plant’s waste water lagoon. VMC already abandoned the lagoon, treated and rehabilitated it, and it is now a fish pond.

What used to be the source of smell, the area is now attracting picknickers who are from the community who spend hours at the resort-like spot in Sitio Pili, Barangay Purisima, Manapla, Negros Occidental.

If you are not a resident of the barangay, you can visit this spot after getting a permit from the VMC management.

VMC already spent some P200 million in putting up new facilities in the village primarily to control pollution.* (Arman P. Toga photos)
