Governor Lacson says no change in his Robredo for President – Sotto for Vice President stand

April 3, 2022

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson today said his personal choice for President is still Vice President Leni Robredo and for Vice Pres. is Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto.

Lacson made this clear following reports on Saturday, April 2 that the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) has endorsed presidential bet Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

No other than Sotto, NPC chairperson and vice presidential candidate denied such report in a Twitter post.

Sotto said the report re NPC is “completely false! Mahiya naman kayo!,” Sotto tweeted today.

“I am the Chairman, ECJ (the late businessman Eduardo Cojuangco Jr.) left me to care for our party. Ask RSA (businessman Ramon S. Ang) if you do not believe me,” he said in another post.

The report released by a broadsheet Saturday, April 2 said that the NPC made such endorsement after party member Tarlac Governor Susan Yap expressed support for Marcos and Duterte.

However, Yap pointed out that ” it’s her personal decision and not of her party.” The broadsheet newspaper corrected it’s report today.

NPC, which was founded by Cojuangco, has yet to endorse a presidential bet.

Governor Lacson said he is sticking to his personal choice of Leni-Tito, adding that he has received instructions from NPC executive officer Dong Mendoza to help the vice presidential bid of Sotto.*
