Covid alert level classification might be done per city/town

March 30, 2022

The Covid alert level classification might be done on a per city or town basis instead of the current by province or by highly urbanized city.

Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Atty.Rayfrando Diaz II said today that they are hoping for the approval of the Department of Health (DOH) and the National Inter-Agency Task Force (NIATF) to make the classification on a per local government unit basis.

“The DOH Region 6 suggested that the alert level classification be done per LGU and not as a whole province… There are LGUs performing well and have already exceeded their minimum targets of Covid-19 vaccination,” Diaz said.

“We want them also to enjoy the effects of their hard work especially that 70 to 80% of their population are already vaccinated. This will also serve as encouragement to other LGUs to strive to reach the same level of vaccination as the other LGUs so they can also enjoy the same alert level” Diaz added.

As of March 26, he said, 65.02% in the province are fully vaccinated.

Diaz revealed to newsmen the vaccination record per LGU, which showed that La Carlota City has 85%, Pulupandan attained 82%,

Cadiz City – 77%, San Enrique – 76%, E.B. Magalona – 75%, Sagay City- 74%, Talisay City – 73%,
Murcia – 73%, Pontevedra, Victorias City and Silay City with 72% each, and Candoni – 70%.

Other LGUs have less than 60% vaccination record, Diaz added.

Negros Occidental is still under Alert Level 2 until March 31.

Diaz explained that the basis for the alert level classification is the number of active Covid-19 cases, hospital utilization, and vaccination accomplishment.*
