The Beautiful and Inspiring Story Behind the Giant Tarps
Hey guys! Do you want to read the story behind the giant tarps at the Leni-Kiko grand rally last March 11, 2022? Read on!
Casey Taleon and I were added in the group chat along with different layout artists. Atty. Pinky Mirano asked us if someone can measure and make a layout for the tarps that need to be placed in the venue. She showed us the place where she wants the tarps to be installed. The following day, we measured it with Kian Parcon helping us. When we measured it, the square was 50 ft x 50 ft and the strips were 120 ft long.
When we presented the layout and the measurements to her, we’re like thinking, where do we get the funds for those tarps for that area. So somehow for many days, it was just a dream.
Six days before the event (March 5), while I was measuring for the design, someone visited the venue and we were able to talk for a while. Then he asked me, “Why don’t you put a tarp over there?” (While pointing to the 2 squares and the 2 strips of panels) I replied that we have it in mind and actually have the layout for it, but we think that it would cost us much and the money can still be used for other expenses of the event.
Then he told me, “Palantawa ko bi sang inyo layout (Let me see your layout).” Then I showed him what Casey did and told me, “Butangi na da. Ako na bahala. Namion ta ni. Kis-a lang ni. Ihatag ta ang best ta (Just put up a tarp there. I’ll take care of the expenses. Let’s make it beautiful and this is only once in a lifetime. Let’s give our all and show them that we’re the best).
A day before the event, the tarps arrived and were installed one by one. We finished installing everything at around lunch time of March 11. Just in time for the event. Then we met again and he told me, “Ti ang damgo mo, realidad na. Aton ini (Now your dreams has become reality. This is our moment). Then I replied, “Thank you sir. Thank you for appreciating and acknowledging the talents of the volunteers and for generously providing and sharing what you have to make this event possible and beautiful. This is our moment.”
Then I told Casey, “See? Let’s just pray and use our talents and skills because God will surely make a way.” Indeed, He made a way.
Beautiful things do happen because of the willingness of the people to generously help and their heart is full of love and volunteerism.
Thank you Lord for using him to be a blessing to all of us. We really llenjoyed taking pictures and it made Paglaum so beautiful.
To God be the glory!
