San Carlos starts F2F classes

A total of eight schools in San Carlos City resumed face-to-face classes (F2F) upon completion of requirements and approval from the local government unit and Department of Education (DepEd)-Region VI Office last March 7, 2022.

Among the schools granted the authority to hold limited in-person classes are San Carlos Milling Company Inc. Elementary School, Congressman Vicente Gustilo Sr. Memorial, San Juan Elem School, Don Carlos Ledesma National High School, Florentina Ledesma Elem. School, Malindog Elem. School, Mabato Elementary School and San Jose Elem School with a total of 964 learners currently doing alternate classes; face-to-face classes for the whole week and modular form of learning for the next week.

Schools Division Superintendent Anthony Liobet, CESO V said on Monday, March 15 that a School Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) was used to assessed the readiness of schools, complied with the directives both of the local government unit and DepEd’s central office, assured that teachers who will be handling face-to-face classes were fully vaccinated and if not, required them to present an RT-PCR negative result every two weeks.

However, Liobet added that learners were not mandated to be vaccinated but need parent’s consents and adapt the mandatory health protocol for said in-person classes.

He also emphasized that students who were not given the consent to participate in the limited in-person classes are learning using either online or modular forms.

Liobet asked parents to continue to support their children in attending face-to-face classes and hoped that teachers will also do their best to ensure safety and that children also learn during conduct of classes.

He looked forward to adding more schools and also thanked the local government for helping them prepare the schools in time for the face-to-face classes.

On the other hand, teachers of Florentina Ledesma Elementary School headed by their OIC, Rosalinda Fedrequilan, Master Teacher II, happily shared that students were enthusiastic to learn during classes and for almost 2 weeks, they haven’t had any difficulties in dealing with them.

They also disclosed the measures being implemented before entering respective classrooms and provisions given to children like the health kit, among others.
