Lacson, Ferrer react to Orola say
“Negative campaigning is so old style.”
This was the reaction of Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to the claims of former Bacolod City Congressman and former city administrator Atty. John Orola who called his administration as “elitist, dynastic, insensitive, unresponsive and abusive.”
Orola is running for governor against Lacson.
Lacson asked “how old is he? Obviously, he is underestimating our very young voters. He is thinking that if you go by negative campaigning it will help his cause,” the governor said.
The governor added that he is encouraging Orola “to continue doing negative campaigning and he will see the results on May 9.”
Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, meanwhile laughed off the accusations of Orola that Lacson is “elitist.”
“As far as I know the governor is fair to people of all walks of life who approach him. He is a very down-to-earth person,” the vice governor said.
Ferrer also said that you can’t be a governor “if your elitist.”
“You need to go the middle class as well as the masses,” Ferrer said, adding that “we are already here for two years and these negative campaigning and propaganda only rose during elections.”
Ferrer described Lacson as “a very kind person,” and also rated him 99 percent in terms of performance.
Both Lacson and Ferrer enjoined local candidates to launch their campaigns on a high level.
“Our strongest weapon is our performance in the nearly three years we are in office. We will continue to go around for public service. Definitely we will not be doing negative campaigning…,” he pointed out.
Both officials will attend campaign launches when local campaign kicks off on March 25.
Lacson will be in Escalante City, while Ferrer will be in La Carlota City.
Asked if they will have their own campaign launch, Ferrer said they will plan it out and invite all the 31 mayors in the province to the event.* (EYA)
