Negros Occidental looking forward to Alert Level 1 status, lifting curfew
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the provincial government is looking forward to lifting the curfew but it has to remain at the moment until the province is put under Alert Level 1.
Lacson said that for the meantime the province must be cautious so it will continue with the curfew.
The curfew in Negros Occidental, except in its capital city of Bacolod, is from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The governor, when asked if the province can sustain the current deceasing trend in Covid cases, said “it depends on how we behave.”
He said that when the cases in the last quarter of 2021 went down, and everyone was allowed to celebrate Christmas, the cases went up again.
“Fortunately cases are going down again but we have an election coming…,” Gov. Lacson said during an interview this morning in Candoni where the provincial government also distributed assistance, roofing materials and food packs to typhoon victims.
Earlier, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said that they are now eyeing the possibility of returning to their normal five-day work week at the Capitol.
Diaz said they are currently eyeing a return to their normal work days by March, as long as the province’s COVID-19 situation continues to improve.
Previously, the provincial government adopted a four-day work arrangement as part of their health protocols.*
