‘We are now at the tail-end of the pandemic, let’s move to normalcy’

February 16, 2022

A consultant of the Negros Occidental Provincial Government today said everyone should move towards normalcy and live with COVID-19 which will not go away.

“I think we also start going back to how we used to live. We should go back to our normal lives,” Capitol consultant Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said.

Benitez was at the Capitol to discuss with Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, on how they will deliver the free tickets earlier offered by Magikland theme park in Silay City owned by his family.

He said that he believes that “we are now at the tail-end of the pandemic.”

Benitez said it is time to shift from pandemic to endemic… “when we accept that Covid will not disappear but will be a part of our daily lives.”

“Our vaccination has been proven that if you are hit by COVID-19 you will not be hospitalized or suffer severe and critical symptoms,” he pointed out.

“It has now been reduced to an ordinary flu,” he also said.

Benitez also said that theme parks and establishments that require more people “should slowly start getting back.”

Asked if he is pushing for the lifting of the curfew in the province, he replied in the affirmative.

“COVID-19 will not stop even if there is curfew,” Benitez said.* (EYA)
