Sipalay Mayor Lizares’ FB account hacked, city govt reports

The Sipalay City government announced that the official Facebook account of Mayor Maria Gina Montilla-Lizares was hacked Thursday evening, February 3.

A post on the city’s FB Page is urging the public to “disregard any communication or request from the Facebook account named “Gina Montilla” as it is currently used by the hacker.’

“Kindly confirm, report, and send us a screenshot of this particular Facebook account if you have received messages asking for money or donations,” it added.

Initial report said that there are already three persons who sent money to someone using the account of the mayor.
One sent P15,000 believing that it was Mayor Lizares who was asking help.

Another one, an executive assistant of a local government unit in Negros Occidental, also sent money amounting to P27,000.
The Sipalay City government is currently conducting an investigation to trace the suspects behind and has asked the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the matter.* (EYA)
