Himamaylan holds unity walk, covenant signing for peaceful & safe elections

Candidates for various posts in Himamaylan City in the May 2022 elections signed this morning (Feb. 4) a Peace Covenant at the Our Lady of the Snows Parish Church in the city.

The covenant signing rites – which also earlier launched the KASIMBAYANAN (Kawani, Simbahan at Pamayanan), is a joint undertaking of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army (PA), Department of Education (DepEd), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Church.

Prior to the candidates’ (and their supporters’) Unity Walk to the Our Lady of the Snows Parish Church where the covenant rites were held, a short program was conducted at the city public plaza.

Candidates present were led by AlyansaToga’s incumbent Himamaylan Mayor Raymund Tongson who is running for reelection, and his running mate, incumbent Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao, Team BAGA’s incumbent Provincial Board Member and mayoralty candidate Tinto Bascon, and his running mate, Raymund Gatuslao.

Independent candidate for mayor Eman B. Lumawag also joined the ceremonies, as well as those running for city councilor.* (APT)
