SM Cinema re-opens, the big screen is back

Bacolod movie enthusiasts were in for a treat with the recent opening of SM Cinema at SM City Bacolod. As the pandemic increased in reach and strength in 2020, one of the industries set in prolonged shutdown were entertainment venues like movie theaters.

With the cinema re-opening its doors, movie enthusiasts are treated to new cinema experiences, exclusive screenings, and new ways to watch movies.

Selected cinemas have opened around the country since November 17, along with a new Cineplex at the newly opened SM City Grand Central. SM Cinema Grand Central houses four state of the art cinemas and two Director’s Clubs that offer a premium movie experience, leather recliners, and a crystal-clear laser projection system.

In the City of Smiles, Bacolod, SM’s four theaters opened with action packed adventure blockbusters, The 355, the latest installment in both the Spider-Man and Fast and Furious sagas, The King’s Man and Scream.

Missing those pre-pandemic blockbusters? SM Cinema promises more good movies to come. Many more titles are lined up for cinephiles!

Even before its reopening, SM remains committed to the safety and wellbeing of their mallgoers. The Safety Seal certification will soon be awarded by the City of Bacolod, giving more confidence to movie fans to step into the theater.

SM Cinema, in partnership with Hygiea Innovations and Technology, Inc, have installed MERV filters and air purifiers to ensure safe and clean cinema for everyone. Likewise, a health and safety officer is present at the screenings while movie theaters will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized regularly. Of course, SM Cinema employees are fully vaccinated and in the mandated safety gear.
