Mixlada presents ‘Pusong Pinoy’

Thirty artists in cities of Bacolod, Cadiz, Sagay, Victorias, and Escalante joined together to launch, “Pusong Pinoy,” an art exhibit, that depicts Filipino-themed pieces.

As the first major art exhibit of various Negrense artists for the year, the event runs on January 16-31 at the Event Centre of the Ayala Mall Capitol Central in Bacolod City.

Sugar Cuenca-Tonogbanua, one of the organizers, said the “Pusong Pinoy” art exhibit features artworks that depict all sorts of art that has the Filipino touch.

She said, it is to celebrate the Filipino essence that is present in every art piece displayed, tapping on to the people how it truly matters at having a Filipino’s heart.

“It is a constant pride being Filipino, especially during the pandemic.” Tonogbanua said.

Last May 2021, Mixlada presented the “Pinta Pandemya” exhibit to artistically depict the impact and various situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was successfully participated by 28 artists.

The Mixlada art group is primarily composed of Anthony Tonogbanua, Cyrene Cuenca, Ariane Nichole Andrada, Mai Cuenca, and Sugar Cuenca-Tonogbanua.

The event has the special participation of artists Boyet Onatin, Agustin Chavez, Charles Villanueva, Chen Levina, Danielle Gayosa, Dr. Christine Joan Ragudo, Giovanni Dimaisip, Jean Gancia, Jenevieve Abeto, Michelle Ma Belle T. Corteza, Istudio Dayon Art, Joan Liza, Joshua Decolongon, JR Ledesma, Remy Banez, Kiddo Balquin, Marlon Domino, Raymart Romelo, Renante Ramas, Robert De Aro, Rusty Quiachon, Salvador Escalante III, Sean Llyrad Secosa, Trisha Louise Abeto, and Kristine Alonso.

The launching will commence at 11 AM on Sunday, January 16, to be led by invited special guests and artists to open the display.* (Kristine Alonso)
