MORE Power Iloilo gets accolade from Negros Occ. Prov’l SP for personnel support in restoring electricity in typhoon-hit south

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) of Negros Occidental recognized MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) based in Iloilo City for its assistance in restoring power in areas devastated by Super Typhoon Odette.

The SP Resolution No. 1114, Series of 2021 was approved on December 28, 2021 during its session presided by Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer.

In a media interview, Vice Gov. Ferrer said the resolution unanimously approved by the Provincial Board “recognizes the big help of MORE Power Iloilo and expresses gratitude for its precious contribution and assistance given to NOCECO (Kabankalan City-based Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative) in bringing back power in southern Negros Occidental that was badly hit by Odette.”

Ferrer said the resolution embodies the gratitude of the SP, his office and the entire provincial government under the administration of Gov. Bong Lacson, and the people of Negros.

The resolution thanks MORE Power President Roel Castro “for sending 20 of its personnel, composed of line warriors and customer care staff to join Task Force Kapatid of the Department of Energy (DOE), National Electrification Administration (NEA), Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA) created to help restore power in typhoon-hit areas.”

“The said augmentation is designed to assist NOCECO in their restoration works to repair and get power back online to the affected Negrosanons,” the resolution stated.

Earlier, NOCECO also publicly thanked MORE Power Iloilo and its president Castro for the personnel and assistance.

OTHER MORE HELP

The Bacolod City-based Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO) also earlier thanked MORE Power for also augmenting the latter’s personnel by sending fresh batch of linemen and engineers from Iloilo. Portions of Ceneco’s coverage area also sustained damages in terms of downed electric poles and power lines.

Other than sending two batches of personnel to NOCECO and CENECO, MORE Power Iloilo also sent relief assistance to typhoon victims in Kabankalan and other areas of Negros hit by the typhoon.*
