Teachers’ ECOLA here to stay – Albee

December 30, 2021

Teachers will continue to receive their much deserved remunerations including the emergency cost of living allowance (Ecola).

This is the promise of former Negros Third District Congressman and now Bacolod Mayoralty candidate Alfredo “Albee” Benitez to educators following issues that their ECOLA will be abolished in the event that he assumes power in 2022.

“Indi ma dula, basi ma dugangan pa,” he said. The Ecola is sourced from the General Fund.

More than anyone, Benitez – who hails from a long line of educators – said he understands the plight of public teachers, hence this privilege will never ever be stopped or abolished.

Benitez acknowledged the teachers’ sacrifices to fulfill their duties since the online classes began, and even said they deserve additional aid in resources such as gadgets, bond paper, load and materials to spark innovations for them to teach their students efficiently.*
