Bacolod City gets COVID-19 aid from PLDT, Smart

PLDT and its wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) spread the Christmas spirit in Bacolod City through the “Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko” gift-giving initiative.

PLDT and Smart have turned over 200 sets of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the city’s frontliners and 300 care bags containing essential goods for quarantined residents. The donation boosts the city’s vaccination program and anti-COVID efforts as Bacolodnons navigate through the coronavirus crisis.

“We would like to thank PLDT and Smart for this gift to the people of Bacolod. We need every help we can get during this pandemic, and rest assured that these donations will be distributed to those who need them the most. We are very encouraged to see that private companies are partnering with us to accelerate our COVID-19 efforts, especially the city’s vaccination program,” says Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Bacolod City was recognized as the “Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit” for 2021 by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, citing the city’s efforts to support local businesses amid the pandemic, especially in ensuring the vaccination of many public utility vehicle drivers, public market vendors, and employees from the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, among others.

PLDT and Smart seek to uplift and improve the overall physical and mental wellness of Filipinos through initiatives that protect them from health threats and ensure food security even in dire situations.
