Rotary brings Christmas cheer
Members of the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara and the Rotaract Club of Marapara had another full weekend of outreach activities with their annual “Pamaskwa Sa Pamilya” project and a further day of planting mangrove seedlings.
On Saturday, club members bought a touch of Yuletide cheer to Brgy. Batea in E.B. Magalona when they treated residents to a fun-filled family Christmas party. With prizes to be won, residents enjoyed games, music, dancing and singing. Rounding off the fun and games, club members distributed 150 noche buena gift packs.
“A good time was had by all and the beneficiaries were happy to receive their early Christmas gifts from the club. I would like to thank our members for generously sponsoring the noche buena packs. They mean a lot to many families and I’m delighted we are able to bring a little extra cheer to their Christmas,” said Rolando Corona, president of Marapara Rotary.
On Sunday, club members were busy with the continuation of their mangrove planting activity at the Mangrove Eco-Trail in Brgy. 6-A in Victorias City. After the planting it was time to present the fisher folks and volunteers who participated in the mangrove planting with gift packs of rice.
Both clubs are planning to hold more mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activities in the New Year.* (Robert Harland)
