23 Bacolod barangays post zero-COVID for two weeks

Twenty-three poblacion barangays in Bacolod City are without a single case of COVID-19 infection during the last two weeks, covering the period from Oct. 28 to Nov. 10.

This was disclosed today, Nov. 10, by Executive Director Em Legaspi-Ang of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force in an updated report to EOC-TF chair, Mayor Evelio Leonardia, and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of the local Inter-Agency Task Force.

Ang, also the concurrent coordinator of the COVID-19 Vaccination Council, also reported that Barangay Punta Taytay has only one active case from Oct. 28 until Nov. 10.

“We hope and pray that this trend continues. The hardwork and dedication of our medical frontliners, our doctors, nurses, vaccinator-volunteers, and barangay health workers are paying off,” Leonardia said in an apparent reaction to the EOC update.

Ang echoed Leonardia’s appeal for cooperation, saying that together, Bacolod is well on its way to achieving herd immunity, if communities and residents continue to remain compliant with the minimum health protocols.

Villages that had zero COVID case as of 4:30 p.m. of Wednesday were Barangays 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 20.
Also in the EOC-TF roster were Barangays 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, 31, 32, 37, 38 and 41.

On Monday, Nov. 8, Bacolod had 18 new infections, and the attack rate further slid to only 14 on Nov. 9, the Department of Health said.

Ang, on Tuesday, also disclosed that 42 percent of the target population is already fully-vaccinated, while 45 percent received one dose.

Totally, she explained, 87 percent of EOC-TF and CoVAC’s target population for vaccination has received at least one dose.* (Bacolod City PIO)
