Bacolod City PNP drug haul for October totaled P949-K

Anti-illegal drug operations conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in October resulted in the confiscation of more than P949,000 worth of suspected shabu, data released by the police showed.

The amount represents the value of 139.6 grams of the seized prohibited substance, with a standard drug price of P6,800 per gram.
Col. Thomas Joseph Martir, acting city police director, said the accomplishment is part of their intensified campaign against all forms of criminality.

From October 1 to 31, various police units conducted 43 operations that led to the arrest of 58 street-level drug personalities, one high-value individual, and one minor.

They filed 67 cases in court against the suspects for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In the first 15 days alone, anti-drug operatives seized 59.8 grams of shabu valued at P406,973.

During the period, 23 drug personalities were arrested in 15 operations and 25 cases were filed in court for violation of RA 9165.

Meanwhile, the BCPO personnel also arrested 53 wanted persons in October, including 11 “most wanted”, 42 “other wanted” persons charged with various offenses.

“I express my appreciation to the men and women of the BCPO who have showed support to my leadership in the past month,” said Martir, who assumed his post on October 1.

He also committed to give Bacolodnons a safe place to live amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
