Marapara Rotary celebrates 29th anniversary
The Rotary Club of Bacolod- Marapara hosted a special dinner on Friday to celebrate its 29th charter anniversary.
Speaking at the dinner, held at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club (NOGCC), club president, Rolando Corona, thanked members for their support and commitment for what has been a difficult year for everyone.
“Thanks to the hard work of members and despite Covid restrictions, we have been able to achieve a lot with service projects and vocational training activities successfully completed. In particular the club’s support of the Bacolod Boys’ Home, mangrove tree planting and coastal clean-ups,” said Mr. Corona.
He added that every club member is testament to the Rotary motto ‘Service Above Self.’
Mr. Corona also thanked Marapara Rotaractors for their enthusiasm and willingness to devote so much time and effort to help the club ensure the success of its projects.
The club was chartered on October 22, 1992 with the first president Francisco “Pakit” Infante. In its 29 years, the club has organized many civic and community projects designed to help the less fortunate in our society.
Its main fund-raising activity is the annual ‘Rotary – Golf for a Cause’ tournament held each year at the NOGCC. Sadly cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic, the club hopes the event can resume next year.* (Robert Harland)
