Cadiz City Gov’t allots P30-M for drainage repair projects

October 24, 2021

The Cadiz City government has allotted more than P30 million in next year’s budget for the repair of its drainage sytem.

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., said that because Cadiz is two inches below sea level, every time it rains there is flooding in some of its localities.

Escalante pointed out that there are two big subdivisions the drainage systems of which are not working, aggravating the flooding in some parts of the city.”These subdivisions are the San Eusebio and Andrea Village. The city’s appeal to them fell in deaf ears,” the mayor lamented.

He said that despite the fact that these are private subdivisions, “the city government decided that it will be the one to repair the drainage system in such areas to end the hardships of people affected by the flooding everytime it rains.”

The city government has managed to cement all the city’s roads even in the mountain areas, he said.

We will now focus on the drainage system in 2022, Escalante said.*
