Province set to roll out Covid-19 vaccination IDs

The Negros Occidental Provincial Government is set to roll out vaccination identification (ID) cards for its residents fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II said the issuance of the ID card can be processed by the vaccinee when accessing an online portal through a link that will be provided to the local government units (LGUs).

“I think the Governor (Eugenio Jose Lacson) can already officially launch this and we will give the links to the mayors and the LGUs to disseminate this further to the Negrenses,” Diaz said in an interview.

When accessing the management information system (MIS) portal, the vaccinee will be asked to enter his or her personal information, including name and date of birth, along with the vaccine brand, and the date or dates of vaccination.

After completing the instructions, the vaccinee will then be able to download a copy of his or her vaccination ID.

Those who want to change their ID picture can submit a copy of their preferred photograph to the support team.

The ID features a QR (Quick Response) Code technology for authentication to avoid the proliferation of counterfeit vaccination cards.

“You can save [the ID) on your cellphone as an electronic copy or you can have this printed out if you want to have a hard copy,” Diaz said.

He added that currently, all the 31 cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental are uploading the lists of vaccinated individuals, and these are being processed by personnel of the Information and Communications Technology Division.

Diaz said with the online system in place, the LGUs will no longer be burdened with issuing vaccination IDs to their respective constituents.

“Each individual can directly access and process the issuance of the ID through the MIS portal,” he said.

In Negros Occidental, the provincial government aims to vaccinate 1.8 million individuals with the hope of achieving population protection against the rising Covid-19 cases and the more contagious variants of the virus.* (Nanette Guadalquiver, PNA)
