Vaccination in malls set anew in Bacolod

October 18, 2021

The Bacolod City Government will set up another coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination site for its weekend rollout on October 23 to 24.

On those dates, the hubs at the SM City Bacolod, 888 Chinatown Square and Ayala Malls Capitol Central will open to accommodate more vaccinees.

“Everyone is now a top priority. Our goal is to protect everyone and save our healthcare system by achieving herd immunity as fast as we can. No one should be left behind,” said Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF).

Ang, who also sits as coordinator of the Covid-19 Vaccination Council (CoVac), added they are expecting a big turnout of vaccinees in next weekend’s vaccination rollout since the city government is now catering even to non-residents of Bacolod.

At the 888 Chinatown Square alone, some 1,600 individuals are targeted to avail of the Covid-19 jabs.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, medical deputy of the EOC-TF, said they held a pilot vaccination roll-out at 888 Chinatown Square on Sept. 26, which turned out to be very successful.

Also hosting the city’s Covid-19 vaccination rollout are four other shopping malls, including Robinsons Place Bacolod, CityMall Goldenfield, CityMall Mandalagan, and Gaisano Grand.

Data released by the EOC-TF showed that as of October 11, some 210,871 individuals here have availed of Covid-19 vaccines, of which 151,686 are already fully vaccinated.* (Nanette Guadalquiver, PNA)
