‘Think outside of the box’ – Benitez
Former 3rd District Congressman and Negros Occidental Provincial Consultant Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said he is more than ready to serve the Bacolod City with a leadership style that is much much more efficient and far from obsolete.
“I am more than willing to serve, I’m capable to serve. My track record can speak for itself,” he said.
Benitez has been implementing a no-nonsense ‘get to the root of the problem’ kind of leadership; As the 3rd district of Negros statesman, he has so many achievements tucked under his belt, yet some are still undeservedly off the radar.
As a congressman, he spearheaded cyber education in his district, which includes modernization of classrooms with electronic blackboards with access to the internet so teachers and students can use the world wide web for learning. He funded the project himself after learning insufficient funds hound the implementation of the project.
He also opened the tourism corridor parallel to Bacolod-Silay airport spurring tourism and additional livelihood to residents in the area.
In what seems to be a knee-jerk response to the Covid pandemic, he helped procure and bring bigger allocations of Covid vaccines to the province so that more Negrenses will be protected from the virulent illness. Realizing time is of the essence, he even lent his private plane to transport the said vaccines.
At the start of the nationwide lockdown, he brought home locally stranded Negrenses from various parts of the country so they can be with their families at the time of the pandemic.
Councilor Al Espino, chairperson of the City Council committee on ways and means, echoed Benitez’s quality, a leader with foresight. He said Albee is eager to bring health services to the people of Bacolod.”*
